FIGHT AGAINST DRUGS
Venezuela is not a producer of drugs, but it does find itself between the world’s biggest producer of cocaine, Colombia, and the world’s biggest consumer of cocaine, the U.S. As such, Venezuela has always had to fight to limit the amount of illicit drugs that are trafficked through its territory and the international criminal syndicates that are responsible for the trafficking. Venezuela has developed a comprehensive strategy to fight drugs that includes cooperation with the international community and measures to decrease domestic consumption, interdict shipments, destroy illicit airfields, monitor the borders, detain traffickers and extradite foreign nationals involved in trafficking.
