Officials of the Bolivarian National Guard seized 25.9 pounds of cocaine at a check point located in the village of Caicara del Orinoco, in Bolivar state, announced Jorge Galindo of the Ministry of Interior and Justice on Friday via twitter.
The drugs were contained in 24 plastic-wrapped bars hidden in a beige Volkswagen driven by two Venezuelan citizens aged 22 and 44, both of whom were arrested during the operation, Galindo informed.
So far this year, Venezuelan authorities have seized 22.5 tons of illegal drugs, according to an announcement Tuesday by the Vice Minister for Citizen Safety Nestor Reverol.
