“Chávez is an extremely charismatic man. He is a worldwide phenomenon. Wherever he goes, the media want to approach him. They all want to interview Chávez,” said CNN En Español news anchor Patricia Janiot in reference to the Venezuelan president.
When asked by César Aponte of the Venezuelan news site Ciudad CCS if she considers President Chávez a global point of reference, she said: “Of course he is a global point of reference. He expresses the discontent that there is at one of the two extremes. He raised the flags of social discontent and inequality in the world, with which a large part of the world’s population identifies.”
When asked if opposition leaders in Venezuela are as charismatic as President Chávez, the Colombian journalist said: “I am not going to answer that question because I don’t want to weigh in on that political issue. But you already know that I have said he is a very charismatic man.”
