On Sunday, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez approved scientific projects for the development of the country’s productive economy.
The announcement came from the Minister of People’s Power for Science, Techonolgy and Innovation, Jorge Arreaza, through his official Twitter account, @jaarreaza.
“Chávez revised and approved scientific projects,” he wrote Sunday.
The Venezuelan leader is currently in Havana undergoing medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the Minister said that President Chávez was working with Foreign Minister Nicolás Maduro on Sunday to move forward the country’s new labor law.
It is expected that the new law will be enacted by the president on May 1 at a public ceremony.
The law in question will restore the fundamental rights of Venezuelan workers, such as retroactive payments of social benefits like pensions. It will also address the length of the work day, the settlement of labor-related disputes, and job security.
