Last Saturday, August 12, 34 Venezuelan political organizations showed their accounting books, updated their data and received a number of permanent file to identify the political parties before the National Office of Funding of the National Electoral Council (CNE), as part of the proceedings to report on funding origin for electoral campaigns.
Since 2008, the CNE established that every political party must provide information on the origin of their funds for campaigns.
An automated process to report the origin of funds began in 2008, through a pilot program that was improved with the results of a workshop on electoral financial information held last August 3. An activity of data updating, revision of new accounting books also took place.
The Director of the National Office of Funding, Saúl Bernal, informed that workshops of electoral financial information will take place throughout the country, as well as a data updating activities for local political parties, considering the coming 2012 presidential elections.
Additionally, political parties will also report to the CNE about their funds, a process that was not previously automated.
The commission of political participation and funding will carry out workshops and plans nationwide so local political parties can report of their funds and update their data.
