    I

In the last week’s Lines of Chávez, I reflected about the diverse flank attacks perpetrated by the counterrevolution in order to create chaos in the country as a preamble for the upcoming September elections. Even though they have not been able to defeat us, and the will not do it, they and their foreign masters will continue trying. Their goals are still the same.

The defamation and plot strategy they have put into motion on the international media outlets is surprising. I warn the people that they do have powerful tools and are going to use them as we get close to September 26.

Last June, they launched a documentary The Guardians of Chávez, created by the Spanish Grupo PRISA. They told many lies in order to create and spread a smear media campaign and make Venezuela appear as an outlaw country. After the showing in the Spanish TV stations Cuatro and CNN Plus, CNN en Español immediately broadcast it in prime time and subsequently broadcast special programs.  They finally uploaded it in Youtube having 45,530 views in 24 hours. This was a real, special and powerful outbreak aimed at making the world believe that the Bolivarian Government is illegal and terrorist.

After these attacks, last week, CNN broadcast several times a news story about our Conviasa airlines’ flights to Damascus and Tehran. Again, they told a chain of lies. They say that the Middle East’s customs have no control and this is why suspects travel and come to train us to commit terrorist attacks; that Venezuela is the perfect route to enter Islamic Arabs in the Americas; that airplanes take off from Maiquetía Airport full of Venezuelan uranium so as to supply the Iranian plants, and so on.

Even though this false story was recently broadcasted, the editorial line had already been spread in a web site called Painkiller on August 3rd. The article Hezbollah y las arepas: Terrorismo islámico en Venezuela (Hezbollah and the Arepas: Islamic Terrorism in Venezuela) is about an interview by the Colombian daily El Tiempo, where Dorit Shavit, the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s Deputy Director-General for Latin America and the Caribbean, launched attacks against our country for the alleged support that “terrorist organizations” receive. That same article mentions an article published by the Italian daily La Stampa, which reported that “the Caracas-Tehran flights served to transport military material and nuclear technology to Syria; avoiding the United Nation’s controls. In exchange, Tehran would send weapons of war to Caracas and give support to intelligence activities. Likewise, some other media outlets have published that Venezuelan passports have been granted to Arab citizens so that they can enter and go out the country easily.” Thus, compatriots, you can see where the shots come from and how hard they are attacking overseas.

As if these lies were not enough, last Monday they launched another missile from The New York Times, everything in tune with the internal campaign the Venezuelan private plotting media have been planning regarding the insecurity issue. Someone named Simón Romero, allegedly correspondent of the aforesaid newspaper in our country, titled his article Venezuela, More Deadly Than Iraq, Wonders Why. Who dares to compare the magnitude of the violence in Iraq -generated by the genocide invasion where the tears of survivors will never be enough to calm down their grief- with the structural insecurity problem in Venezuela, which has been generated by the brutal inequalities that our government inherited and is strongly facing today with a preventive and not repressive strategy. Obviously, you cannot demand the least objectivity to a certain riffraff journalism that do nothing but to reinforce the atrocious muckraking.

Considering the upcoming electoral battle month and taking into account what I have said so far, we must know very well the interests of those who want Venezuela to be making kneel down the Yankee empire. The counterrevolutionary forces are inside the house and also prowling around; September is their target.

On August Thursday 26, we attended a wonderful graduation act in the Caracas’ Teresa Carreño Theater. Venezuela has 189 new surgeons as a result of the agreement between the Latin American School of Medicine and the Rómulo Gallegos University. That is to say, they graduated in Cuba and have revalidated their diploma here in Venezuela. In addition, there are 86 doctors of internal medicine from Venezuela and other Latin American countries, plus 95 surgeons. A total of 370 health and life soldiers. This is a lighting group, expression of the fraternal and supportive Venezuelans who fight for the cause of humanity.

I was touched by the great humanist and revolutionary fervor of these guys; their great joy because they have to formally exercise medicine, the most beautiful apostolate on Community Integral Medicine. I say it with Bolívar, they are going to be patient and persevering so that medicine deepens all around our region. The lighting and outstanding example of the battalion 51 points the way, as well as the great educational and ethic reference of the revolutionary Cuba, which is a source of gratitude and admiration.

During my speech on Thursday, I emphasized the need of speeding up missions Barrio Adentro 3 and 4, the recovery of the hospitals we already have and the building of the new specialized hospitals we need. The slightest delay is inadmissible since it is all about people’s health. Thus, you compatriot who read me, be sure that what we have done in ten years is small in comparison to what we are going to do in the next ten or twenty years.

On Friday August 27, we allocated more resources to the Socialist Bicentennial Productive Fund. We signed seven agreements for the creation of joint ventures in order to continue supporting the real entrepreneurs of Venezuela. This fund has allowed us to invest $784 million to finance 234 socio-productive projects aimed at satisfying the people’s basic needs. The idea is to collectively produce what we need so every one can live better.

On Wednesday August 25, the electoral campaign started. A transcendental and decisive battle started that must be in favor of the Bolivarian Revolution on September 26. We have to avoid at all cost that the counterrevolution transform the National Assembly into a space to destabilize and plot the transforming dynamic. Armoring the Assembly, on the contrary, guarantees the continuity of the socialist project, which needs to transform, as I have said, into a new legality and open the way to let people legislate.

We need a categorical and indisputable victory because, I repeat, the destiny of our revolution is in danger as well as the homeland’s life. So, it is all about a fireproof for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and all the revolutionary forces.

People’s powerful energy moving around and organizing can be felt everywhere. An overwhelming militant force of 2 million compatriots is already deployed in the 87 electoral constituencies. Now then, our number superiority must transform into a greater political efficiency and the top revolutionary quality during the campaign. We must consolidate the hard revolutionary vote, and specially convince the heart and conscience of those who still doubt or are not convinced of the benefits of socialism. I want to highlight the importance of patrol members’ work consisting on recovering, with intelligence and effort, the people who preferred abstention and are not counterrevolutionary.

I want to paraphrase Marshal Antonio José de Sucre: The overwhelming victory of September 26 will depend on the efforts we daily make. I’m sure we are going to win.

Members of patrols, to the attack!

    At the pace of winners!

    Hugo Chávez
