Venezuelan security agencies seized four tons of cocaine and heroin buried at a ranch located in Guárico state, in the central plains of the country.
On Wednesday evening, Venezuela’s Bolivarian Air Force tracked a King-200 commercial aircraft that was expected to transport the drugs in an illicit flight. The aircraft was intercepted by two F-16s, which forced the pilot to land near the ranch. The crew of the King-200, assumed to be of Mexican nationality, managed to flee.
Tracking operations will continue in order to determine whether there are more drugs buried in the area.
During this procedure one person was arrested, captured nearby in a truck which was to be used to load the narcotics.
This is the biggest drug seizure by Venezuelan security agencies this year, bringing to 47 tons the amount of drugs seized by the Bolivarian Government so far in 2010, informed the Ministry of people’s Power for Interior and Justice Tarek El Aissami.
