The Venezuelan leader said that this health care program has been extremely important in saving the lives of those people who live in shanty towns and far-removed areas in the country.

“So far we have saved 292,000 lives through Mission Barrio Adentro. That’s the response we give to the terror and death campaign promoted by the opposition. The response is the life campaign. We are saving lives with programs such as Barrio Adentro and the Children’s Cardiology Hospital,” said Chávez during a graduation ceremony for 189 new doctors held in Caracas.

Furthermore, the Venezuelan president ordered the Health minister Eugenia Sader to speed the building of the medical centers that will be part of the third and fourth phases of the Barrio Adentro Mission as a means to continue improving the Venezuelan health care system.
