The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the U.S. will soon announce the coming schedule for the second installment of Venezuelan Sounds 2010.
Venezuelan Sounds is an annual concert series of Venezuelan artists that was launched in 2004 and is promoted by Ambassador Bernardo Álvarez and sponsored by Chevron Corporation.
Venezuelan Sounds 2010: The First Season
The seventh annual edition of Venezuelan Sounds started on June 23, with a Venezuelan night at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. in which the ensemble EnCayapa delighted the audience with urban rhythms. EnCayapa also performed in the Bolivarian Hall, the Venezuelan embassy’s cultural space, and in a festival in San Francisco.
Leonard Jacome, harpist for the well-known Venezuelan singer Reynaldo Armas, followed with a schedule of performances together with his ensemble Cuerdas Bajo Presión, including in Washington, D.C., Boston and Chicago.
Additionally, Venezuelan clarinetist Alcides Rodríguez performed in the Bolivarian Hall on July 22 alongside guitar player Aquiles Báez, percussionist Jackeline Rago and bass player Roberto Koch.
Recognized Venezuelan flautist Marco Granado closed the series’ first season on July 23 in the St. Louis Art Museum in St. Louis, Missouri.
All the concerts sold out; and over 800 people attended the Venezuelan night at the National Zoo.
