The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, stated this Sunday the importance of the Bolivarian Government’s project for the construction of the Petrochemical Complex Navay.

“We have one of the largest phosphoric rock mines in the world. This, specially, is important for the development of fertilizers”, he commented when speaking about the prominence of the project.

The Navay Complex is located at the southwest of the Táchira State, some 120 kilometers (about 74.5 miles) from San Cristobal, but it is comprised of a great mining belt, covering the states of Apure, Barinas, Mérida and Táchira.

While mentioning that this project is part of the growing industrialization in Venezuela, he declared that “Here, in Puerto Nutrias (Barinas state) we will build the processing plant of raw material to produce fertilizers”.

The Petrochemical Complex Navay has 100 million metric tons of tested reserves of phosphoric rock, a mineral that contains various phosphoric compounds; and is used as a base for the production of fertilizers.
